image of road   GOING OFF THE PAVEMENT

What do I do?

When the centerline of my life

The one I have followed

So faithfully for decades

Buckles and drops off

Changes direction

Or goes onto an unexpected curve

With some unfamiliar wiggles

That shakes me to the core?

Do I gobble down the pills

That will smooth the outside surface

Without healing the inside pavement?

Or seek out a new highway with

A new centerline onto a new road

That becomes my odyssey

Of a life’s journey to find myself.
